You might need to know a bit of HTML in order to be able to alter the way text wraps around images. This Google search yielded more than a few good hits on this subject.

If you are using the Rich text Editor to compose your posts, you may occasionally need to switch between the Display mode and Source Code mode of the editor; this page shows you how:

Then post the URL of a page you are working on so we can see an example of what you have. Tell us what you would rather see and we'll try to show you how to get there.

I have used this HTML-code in my blog http://www.sendogmotta.no:

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=5 width=0 align=right border=0>
<TBODY>
<TR>
<TD><FONT size=1><IMG alt="" src="http://yourblogname.blogware.com/Picturefoldername/Filename" border=0></FONT></TD></TR>
<TR>
<TD class=tekst><EM><FONT size=1>Picturetext</FONT></EM></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
<P>

It seems to work fine.

Building a table inside your post seems like overkill.

All that you need to do is follow the tutorial John posted to insert an image, pull it up where you want it in your paragraph, use ALIGN to set it on the left or right, and HSPACE to keep the text from running right into the image border.
