As will be clear from other postings, I am exploring the admin. of a blog intended to support a group.

Background

As part of that I am creating new usernames.

As I understand this, when a new username is created an email is posted in two directions:

1. to the email address of the blog administrator creating the post

2. to the email address given for the new user(name) now able to access the blog in question.

For development purposes I made both those email addresses the same. Result: I get two emails.

Query

Before commenting, it may help to clarify a point. Any blog has its 'owner' (the user who pays up) who is a default administrator. If there are additional administrators, I take it the new user email is sent only to the administrator who added/created the new user?

Comment

The texts of the two emails sent out are identical, it seems, specifically:

"A new blogware account has been created for you! You may access your account by visiting the following url:.."

If this is the case, might these be different? Specifically, one might want to distinguish:

the text message to say that a user has been given access by an administrator

from

the text message to the user on the lines now used.

If it doesn't break the rules of good posting, I would also welcome comment on the related issue of whether there is a need to distinguish:

adding an existing (blogharbor) user to an individual blog

from

creating a new user who may well not know of blogharbor, or indeed blogs at all.

Bad manners for an administrator to do this and, of course, the notification shows the sender's email address, in case of any queries.

That is correct.

That is also correct, because the two emails are in fact identical, we send that email to the user you created and a copy to the Admin who created the account... You might have gotten both copies if you receive email for both the address you created and the Admin account which you used to create it.

I am not sure what you mean. Do you mean distinguish as in let the user know in the email being sent what permissions were granted? The email is sent as a result of the account being created, not on permissions being assigned.
