On the Dashboard section of your control panel, you can scroll to the bottom to see the Recent Trackbacks list. Look at the row right below the header for the "Display the 5 most recent trackbacks" and change the 5 in the drop down menu to 50 and click Display. Now you're seeing a long list of recent trackbacks.

On the right side of each trackback row is a checkbox. You can check each one individually or look at the top of the column for a checkbox, click the top one and that will select all. Once you have the ones you want to remove selected, click on the Delete and Block button; that will remove those trackbacks and block the source from sending you additional trackbacks.

thx but i have done that almost every day for months. as i said, while that is an easier method to delete them after they have occurred is there a way to stop trackbacks, i.e. turn off the trackback functionality, before they happen?

thx

My fault for not reading all the way through to the end of your post before replying.

To disallow trackbacks you have to do that on a per article basis, there's no global setting for that. There is an Allow trackbacks checkbox at the bottom right of the Edit Article or Post Article page.

You can set the Allow trackbacks setting to be enabled or disabled by default on all new posts from the Settings & Security > Publishing Defaults > Posts section of the control panel.

Any software that even thinks about coming near the master database needs to go through some serious QA testing. Even something as seemingly trivial as this would need to be thoroughly tested, development weighed against other priorities, etc. So it's not likely we would be able to whip up a quick script to change your blog in the near future, but we will certainly make note of the issue in general here so that we can eventually have a solution for this type of problem which could apply to our entire user base.
