John,
I cant post remotely to my blog which throws up:
Code:
XMLRPC Protocol Error, code:500 msg:Internal Server Error(blogware.com:443/xmlrpc.cgi)

I guess its a transient issue as I've never before not been able to post remotely -- I use Zoundry. But just so ya know..
Geoff

It was down again when I tried 30m ago, but is now back up working. Frustrating.
The XMLRPC post feature has always been a bit shaky. It seems to choke on posts with images in and often will not acknowledge that the blog has received the post when in fact it has, although the version sitting in the Post Manager then lacks information such as categories and "draft" flag.
ICould it be a latency problem?
I'm in western Europe and posting remotely seems to be more successful in the mornings when, presumably, traffic is lighter. Ping times now (7pm CET) to blogharbor.com are 150ms.

Ping your blog and not blogharbor.com, blogharbor.com is not located in the same data center, it's thousands of miles away...

Ping times are OK but Im still getting the same problem when I tried to post today. Zoundry stumbles right at the beginning of the upload or download with the following error.
Code:
Error downloading posts -- XmlRpc list categories request failed.

Do you have a lot of categories?

I just tried the same thing with Ecto and had no issues...

Ten categories, which hasnt been a problem in the past. A shot in the dark: could it be a port conflict? I just turned off emule, which was running on my son's computer attached to same network, and the post went through OK.
How do I find out what port XMLrpc uses?

Its not a port problem and its intermitent, which adds to the frustration.
It doesnt happen when I use Zoundry to post to my Pressharbor-hosted blog, so I guess its something to do with how Blogware implements XMLRPC.
I have my BlogHarbor-hosted blog configured in Zoundry as a Movable Type a/c rather than Blogware a/c. I cant remember why, but there was a reason for doing this. Could that make a difference?

I think this might be the case that Blogware intermittently just has XML-RPC timeouts. We've seen this before. Unfortunately we have no solution for that, as Blogware is no longer being actively developed by Tucows. We suggest you migrate your blog to Wordpress on our PressHarbor platform if XML-RPC reliability is important to you.
