I got some more information offline and answered.
The gentleman followed this howto for adding a banner image to his weblog. He made one small mistake in the HTML...
Quote: | You entered this:
<img src="banners/banner5.gif">
You will need to enter this:
<img src="/banners/banner5.gif">
The former means the image banner5.gif found in the directory banners located below the current path. That would be incorrect when you are in a category subdirectory. The latter forces it to be relative to the root directory, not the current directory. |
Just add the leading slash, and the banner image will appear on all of the pages... |

Hi John...
I had the same problem as the previous post.
When I create the banner component using the leading backslash, it doesn't appear on any of the headers. When I don't use the leading backlash, my custom banner appears on the main page, but nowhere else.
What am I doing wrong?
(I've gone to the template managers in each category to activate the original blog name component so something appears in the headers.)
Also, I see there are template managers for the categories. Is there a way to adjust the template for a web page?
Thanks

If you put the component on your blog, and let us know the address of the blog, we can take a look at it and let you know what's wrong. It's not really possible to tell otherwise... |

Of course. Sorry.
I've got the custom component posted on the header of the main page, and the original blog name on the category templates for the time being.
The address is:

Thanks

Looks like you have enabled custom layouts in your categories, so that you have added the custom component to your Main Page category but not to the other categories...
Was that intentional, did you want to have different components based on the category? If not, then you should go to Look & Feel > Layout then click on each of your categories on the category tree on the left side of the page. Then look for the Revert to Default button and click it to make the category inherit the parent's component layout again.
Or you would need to add your custom Blog Name component to each of your categories if you want to continue using custom layouts per category.
And yes, once you have fixed the above issues, the leading slash will be necessary for the IMG tag...
