|
|
I imported posts from a Typepad blog to my new BlogHarbor blog - http://thehomebusinessguy.blogharbor.com/blog and five or six comments came with them but have no names attached. I figured that was because of the Reader access system with Blogware. I would like to have the names restored and thought of adding a comment which explained who left the comments, but that's a bit kludgy. Any suggestions? Please keep it simple cause I am no programmer.

Des - The short answer is that the names are not imported for the reason you surmised, that comments on our network are attributed either to Anonymous or to an authenticated identity. During the import process, there is no way to authenticate the identity of the commenter so that information is not imported.
You can either manually adjust your import file by adding content to the body of the comment like Joe Jackson <joejackson@example.com> wrote: or you might be able to adjust the way Typepad exports the commenter's name so that your export file creates the comment body this way automatically. |

Thanks John.
Any tip for how I can change the listing of these comments in the sidebar from 'Untitled' to something more informative?

I don't see a way to do this right off - I will look into this for you. |
