i am having a difficult time trying to set security on a specific subfloder of the secure category. i am trying to have it set so that i can only read this specific folder and yet a group can erad another specific sub folder of the secure category. it appears that no matter what i do the group can read both sub folders. thoughts?
I believe I see that "A trusted poster can post to all categories" is coming into play here. i am getting a bit confused between groups, trusted posters, and a regular user that has permissions across specific categories. i believe the answer is that a trusted poster is really a super user who can do anything except admin funcitonality. otherwise all other posters are just posters with specific category permissions. seems like confusing naming conventions to me.
We created our system with the ability to restrict categories of your choosing to users or groups of users.
In practice, we realized that many blog owners found that when adding categories, it was inconvenient to duplicate the permissions on each and every new category.
So we created the functionality of a Trusted Reader or a Trusted Poster: these are users to whom blog admins can grant the ability to Read or Post to all categories, even ones they have not created yet.
This is not necessarily a feature all blog owners would want to use for all of their readers or posters. It depends on the blog and its purpose. If you have a blog where you want to have some categories restricted to friends only and some restricted to family only, then you may want to use a "category specific" permissions rather than grant Trusted Reader or Trusted Poster status to anyone.
