started out getting http 500s again this morning. after about 15-20 mins i finally got in. i just tried to delete trackbacks and got another http 500. the admin panel is moving Very slowly. i hit the back button to go back to the previous admin screen and hit refresh. the delete trackback command worked. this is a pretty consistent pattern when i first go to use the blogs in the morning. http 500s, no idea if command are being taken, having to mess around to determine it.
i just hit view blog and it took 30 seconds to give me the http 500. i hit refresh and it immediately refreshed. refresh again, 20 secs. save an article fast. make another edit, save the article again, 30 secs, http 500. now things appear to moving along normally.
quite frustrating. |

everything appears to be moving along fine now. is this just an early morning startup issue? the problem is that if it continues too long in the morning it throws my entire workflow off and everything is posteponed for the next day and work piles up. |

I'm trying to post an article this morning and I am up to 5 HTTP 500 errors so far.
Here's a crazy request, since posting articles and comments is going to fail from time to time, can we please have the target of the posts be set to open in a new window? That way if it fails I can just go back to the previous window and post again. _________________ -- Abacquer, A.K.A. Chuck Seggelin |

Just weighing in that I can't post at all. It's 12:22 pm EST and haven't been able to for the last 15 min. _________________ Thanks!

All - my apologies for not responding to your concerns earlier... I was out this morning and am catching up on what's going on. Update shortly... |

Here's what I can say so far:
- The problem this morning and the problem noted later this afternoon are related.
- It is a symptom of the same problems we've been experiencing.
- Last Sunday night's maintenance was not completed as we ran out of time, so the gains we expected to realize from that maintenance window have not yet been realized.
- We will be scheduling an additional maintenance window to complete the database optimizations we'd expected to complete during last Sunday's maintenance. Timing to be announced this afternoon.
- Once the database optimizations are complete, we will be installing caching servers which will allow us to serve a significant amount of content directly from memory rather than from disk.
- We do expect that once those two items (database optimization and deployment of the caching servers) are complete, these posting errors will be eliminated and that the system performance and reliability will be increased significantly.
We apologize for the problems you are currently enduring and are working very hard to eliminate these issues. This is priority one and has been for some time. We realize that these fixes need to come as fast as possible and we promise that we are doing all that we can to make that a reality. |

John,
Being an employee of a software company, I empathize with the issues the BlogHarbor team is sweating over -- and appreciate your all's attention to the issue.
At the same time, I've got to rant and say, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!" because today's posting problems have been hit or miss and mostly miss. Once again, I can't post at all.
I love your team one and all but fix this problem! _________________ Thanks!

Thanks for your empathy, and again, we're trying hard to fix this issue. All BlogHarbor users - at least the ones who have kept their account email address up to date - have by now received a notice of tomorrow's maintenance window. We're going to finish the work that was started this past Sunday night and we think that the results will have an impact. And there are more speedups coming after that as well... So we're hoping to start seeing an improvement very shortly.
For the record "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah" and even more choice expletives have also been uttered here as well. |

Hi John,
I noticed there are a number of ad-hoc downtime.
It's getting frustrating. The reason is everything seems fine until i hit the save button. The blog I've written, with links, picture and all are gone! .
Appreciate your advise asap.
Thanks!
Martin

If you have problems posting, we suggest you report them immediately via our contact page. Please include the exact time you experienced the problem, as complete a description of what happened as possible, any error messages you received from our website or your web browser, and maybe a little bit about your computer setup like the browser and operating system you are using. That would help us to help you more effectively. |
