Public site with multiple authors and a restricted category

A group wants to have a blog with multiple authors, the blog being mostly available to general readership but with one category closed to all but the author group. I've looked through the responses here but can't quite figure out how to do this.

We do offer you the ability to specify a user who can post to any category, that would be called a Trusted Poster. You can also give a user custom permissions, allowing them to post only to a specific category.

As for restricted categories, you can also designate readers who are Trusted Readers and can read any category on your blog, or you can give them custom permissions so that they can only read a specific restricted category.

You can also add users to groups, which may make it easier to manage permissions for large numbers of users.
