How to change the background color of my blog!

Good day!

Thanks for your help.

Can I change the background color of my blog by editing a file?
I know I can templates, but I want to have a custom color for my background.

I tried to edit a compont file that has my image as the header, but that did not work.

e.g.

<img src="http://www.mynewoffice.com/images/mno_logo_2006.jpg" width="800" height="210" vspace="0" hspace="0">
<body bgcolor="#000000">

If it did work, would it have only changed the header table?
