Hi,
I have a subjective question that I would like to post to the forum. I am finally about to launch my blog, officially, with 4 posts to start things off. I read how Blog harbor pings Technorati based on the category so I totally loaded up on categories, assigning 5- 6 categories per post. Is that too much? Should I focus more on the key words instead ? (even though we are limited to just one word within each phrase) Or should I try to mazimixe my categories AND key words? My goal is to bring in as much traffic as possible from the search engines.

Not sure if anyone can really say for sure if categories help significantly, my suspicion is that they do help a little bit on your search engine exposure because they allow your blog to have more pages indexed... An article posted to multiple categories adds content to your category pages and increases their chance for ranking in the engines as well.
Keywords help for the reason that they create what is essentially a new category page... Search engines will pick up on the keyword link and index that link as well, which can create a keyword-rich category-style page which can often be ranked quite high. Use this technique to enable your keywords to do double duty as Technorati tags, which should increase your exposure in that search engine.
